Registration reminder for authors

Presenting authors are reminded that they must register for the conference by August 15 in order to be included in the conference program.

Presentation guidelines

Lecture Presentations
  • Contributed presentations are allotted 12 minutes for the presentation and 3 minutes for questions from the audience, with a total time slot of 15 minutes.
  • Invited presentations are allotted 25 minutes for the presentation and 5 minutes for questions from the audience, with a total time slot of 30 minutes.
  • Plenary presentations are allotted 37 minutes for the presentation and 8 minutes for questions from the audience, with a total time slot of 45 minutes.

An LCD projector & computer (Windows 7, MS Powerpoint 2010 & Adobe Acrobat X) will be available in every session room for regular presentations. Neither Overhead projectors, 35mm slides projectors, a VHS videotape player nor a DVD player will be available.

Preparation of Visuals:

PLEASE NOTE THAT PRESENTERS MUST BRING A USB MEMORY STICK CONTAINING THEIR PRESENTATION and upload their files to local PCs during the breaks between the sessions with the help of the technical staff:

  • For presentations in the Plenary Hall, the files must be uploaded in the Control Room for the Plenary Hall.
  • For presentations in Lecture Rooms 2 and 3, the files must be uploaded in the lecture room where the presentation will be held. To avoid software compatibility problems (MS Powerpoint), speakers are advised to save their Powerpoint presentation with the Package for CD feature or save it As a Show AND bring also a .ppt or .pptx and a PDF-version of their presentation.
  • Speakers are strongly encouraged to visit their respective Lecture room (or the Control Room if the presentation is in the Plenary Hall) in advance of their presentation to check for compatibility and have enough time to correct for any technical issues. A technical assistant will be available in case support is required.

General Considerations:

  • Slides are preferred in a 16:9 aspect ratio for compatibility with 1920x1080 projectors, but 4:3 format is also acceptable.
  • Leave space, at least the height of a capital letter, between lines of text.
  • All fonts, including that on graphs, should be 20 point or larger.
  • Graphs and charts should have bold lines and symbols that contrast sharply with the background. Thin, light lines can be lost on some projectors.

Poster Presentations

There will be a large number of posters presented at each session during the conference. In order to ensure that the sessions run smoothly, all posters should be placed on the poster boards as early as possible, preferably at the start of the conference but at the very latest 5 minutes before the session commences. The posters should be left on the poster boards for the whole duration of the conference.

The placement of your poster will be marked on the poster board where it will be presented with the number of your poster contribution, for example: P1-63-Tu , where

P=Poster
1=Area where the poster is located
63=Poster number within that poster area
Tu=Day when the poster is presented

You can find your number in the conference program. Presenting authors are expected to be in front of their poster for the whole duration of their assigned session.

The poster board available to each presenter is large enough to fit an A0 poster:

90 cm (wide) x 120 cm (tall) (about 3 ft x 4 ft)

The format of the poster panel is portrait (height > width). You are free to choose a single poster (or many smaller posters) that fit on the given panel size.

Please attach your poster to the board with Velcro or push pins (depending on the poster board type), which will already be available at the poster area. If you need more materials to fix your poster, please contact the registration desk.
